Proposed · Verified October 14, 2026.
Information about court rules, not legal advice. Rules change; read the order itself before you file.
Proposed: a person signing a document filed in an Oregon appellate court would certify it contains no fabricated authority (fake citations, quotations, propositions of law or facts, whether AI-created or otherwise).
“a person signing a document as required by ORCP 17 that is filed in an appellate court is certifying that the document does not contain any fabricated authority.”
Issued by the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals; comments closed July 17, 2026, with a proposed effective date of January 1, 2027. No final adoption order had been published as of the date checked. Appellate courts only. The Court of Appeals' existing notice says fabricated authorities are grounds for striking and sanctions.
